The Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC), formed in 1963, is the designated regional planning entity for the Central Massachusetts region, which includes the City of Worcester and the surrounding 39 communities.

The Assumption College Economic Indicators Project will offer quarterly updates on the greater Worcester economy. Each update will include three components: the Worcester Economic Index (WEI) an index of the local economic activity, a 6 month forecast of the WEI based on national leading indicators, and a 6-month diffusion index of local leading indicators.

Our reports on community and economic development focus on ways to expand the tax base, increase employment opportunities, and revitalize downtowns and neighborhoods. They suggest ways to improve Worcester and the surrounding region as a place to live, work, and raise a family.
